Wolfram Password Generator Reference App App Reviews

Disappointing

Useful app, yet there is no clipboard support to copy a generated password elsewhere. Seems like such a glaring omission, and renders the app less useful. I also find the blatant links to other Wolfram products quite distasteful. I did not pay for advertising.

Love it

I love this app. Use it for all new passwords and to change some old ones. It is true you cant just copy the password, but you can copy everything and then extract the password. A pain and hopefully something they will fix. Even so, a very useful app.

One of the best iOS password generator

Since I havent test them all, I cant say its the best but it is certainly one of the best. Would be the total if it could only copy the passwords, not the "|" between them in mutiple passwords mode. Also, it could provide an export function to the Excel format or other formats.

Elegant solution

Im so surprised this app doesnt have any reviews. Its a beautiful and informative app. I started using KyPass to manage passwords recently, but was annoyed to find that it had no password generator. Enter Wolfram. It will generate a password AND tell me how long itll take to crack it. Very cool. Great purchase.

no print service or save multiple passwords to a text file

not really practical to have a nice app (and this is a nice app - remembering its low cost) and not be able to save (if you can i cant find it) to a file or to print it... maybe i just dont know??? i do know you can save an image (one password at a time) and paste it to another apps document... also, they give you the same info at the wolfram site as what you see here... no real help??

Generates passwords, but nearly useless beyond that

The options for this app are great in so far as it generates strong passwords in almost any way you care to generate them, and does password analysis. A pity that it is almost impossible to use unless you are want to read the password off your iOS device and type it in by hand on another device. First - it requires a data connection because the passwords are actually generated on Wolfram Alpha, and you are at the mercy of their servers current work load. Second - there is no facility to save passwords. Third - Worst of all, you cannot select text. It only lets you copy the entire text of the page returned from WA, which always contains a lot more text than the password. Major Fail.

Looks good, but ....

Yes this app does what it says on the box. However when you create a good strong password, theres no way to copy that and use it for say a website or where ever I might need a password/login. The only way is to copy all ten generated passwords pasteem as text into Evernote (or another text editor) and then select the one password you need copy-paste into whatever login. Or you could of course go old school pen and paper:-) I did try to reach support, but support is just to well hidden on their website.

Requires Internet and cant copy passwords

I get that Wolfram wants to fit this into their normal setup with questions and generating detailed answers, but the end result is that this app requires Internet (not great for iPod touch) and you cant actually copy the password, which is the whole point of it. @eventualbuddha

Old and not thought out…

I should have seen the outdated update info before I bought this, but so be it… Wolfram devs were NOT AT ALL thinking of the user when creating this app. Generation is great, but copying to the clipboard is ridiculous. You generate 10 passwords, you end up copying ALL 10 to the clipboard (long-press your finger for about 6 seconds - SLoW). Not useful when trying to change a sites password while mobile. Horrible… And you have to type in the number of characters and results. Why not use sliders? Its quicker. But the technical info of your results are interesting. Dont buy this app, there are MUCH better apps our there (like Free Password Generator by Elke Luders).
